[origin: WO2014095038A1] The invention relates to a dewatering fabric (20) for the production of paper (10) with a large-area thickened paper portion (12) with a substantially constant thickness, wherein the dewatering fabric (20) has a woven wire fabric (22) with at least in each case one system of warp threads (24) which run in the longitudinal direction and weft threads (26) which run transversely with respect thereto, which warp threads (24) and weft threads (26) are woven with one another and form fabric meshes (28) having a predefined fabric mesh area. It is provided here in one aspect of the invention that the woven wire fabric (22) has a fabric depression (30) with a contiguous depression region (32), the outline shape of which corresponds to the outline shape of the thickened paper portion (12) to be produced, and which depression region (32) is provided substantially completely with embossed substructures (36) which enlarge the surface area of the depression region and the fabric mesh area in the depression region.
