[origin: WO2014095470A1] For exchanging diagnostic information in a vehicle (2) with a diagnostic tool (51) by means of a diagnostic connector (3) mounted on said vehicle, the device comprises an onboard computer (4) arranged to transmit and receive coding signals of said onboard diagnostic information to and from communication sockets (5, 6, 7, 8) of the connector (3) when it is activated by an activation signal received at a first control socket (9) of the plug (3). A connection plug (12) comprises communication pins (15, 16, 17, 18) arranged to come into contact with the communication sockets (5, 6, 7, 8) in such a way as to allow the diagnostic tool (51) to receive and transmit coding signals, a first control pin (19) arranged to come into contact with the first control socket (9) so as to transmit the activation signal to the onboard computer (4), a second control pin (20) arranged to come into contact with a second control socket (10) of the connector (3) which delivers a source signal generated in the vehicle, and an electric component (22) connected to the control pins (19, 20) to generate the activation signal from the source signal.
