Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2014108159A1] A method is described for producing vinyl chloride by thermally cracking 1,2-dichloroethane in a vinyl chloride structure, wherein a 1,2-dichloroethane pyrolysis unit is provided, wherein feed 1,2-dichloroethane is thermally cracked, the cracked gas produced therein is cooled in a downstream quench column, and the chlorohydrocarbon contained in the cracked gas is separated off in a downstream HCl column, wherein a 1,2-dichloroethane structure is connected upstream of the vinyl chloride structure, said 1,2-dichloroethane structure having a distillative purification of 1,2-dichloroethane structure, wherein at least one high-boiling column is provided for separating off the substances boiling higher than 1,2-dichloroethane, and wherein the high-boiling column is operated under excess pressure. The method is characterised in that at least one part of the vapours from the quench column is used for obtaining thermal energy which is used for heating the HCl column.
