[origin: WO2014118214A1] The invention relates to a method for characterizing the behavior of a given vehicle including a body, at least one wheel (14) including a given disk, wheel rim and tire, and at least one suspension device (80) connecting the wheel (14) to the body, characterized in that: (A) for a configuration of the suspension device and of the given wheel, a subjective test of the behavior of said vehicle is carried out in order to determine whether or not said behavior of said vehicle is acceptable; (B) the configuration of said suspension device and of said wheel is changed so as to scan the respective values of the side force Fy and side drift Dy pair of said wheel traveling in a straight line at a given stabilized speed, and, for each tested configuration of said suspension device, the characterization step (A) is carried out again; (C) for each tested configuration of the suspension device, the pair of side force Fy and side drift Dy values of said wheel traveling in a straight line is determined; and, (D) in the plane Fy, Dy the areas Z of acceptable behavior of said vehicle are determined.
