[origin: WO2014122056A1] The invention relates to an overvoltage protection device (7), which comprises at least one overvoltage protection unit having at least one contact lug (14) and which comprises a mechanical disconnection apparatus that is activated in the event of a thermal overload, wherein the mechanical disconnection apparatus comprises a connection element. The connection element can be moved from a closed position to a current-interrupting or voltage-disconnecting position by means of a slide (4) preloaded by spring force, wherein the connection element consists of a pair of current-dividing metal bows (1, 1'), the ends of which directed toward the contact lug of the overvoltage protection unit extend in parallel and which accommodate the respective contact lug of the overvoltage protection unit in the centre of the bows, wherein the closed position is secured between the connection element and the contact lug in the region of the ends of the bows extending in parallel by means of a solder (3). The ends of the bows facing away from the contact lug of the overvoltage protection unit are connected to one another in such a way that a free space is enclosed and have a segment for outer connection parts in the further course, wherein the slide having a preloading spring is inserted in the free space in such way that the spring preload is oriented in the direction of the contact lug of the overvoltage protection unit. The slide has a wedge shape and/or segments of the bows form a slanted surface in order to produce a force component acting on the ends of the bows extending in parallel when the slide moves, such that the ends of the bows extending in parallel move away from the contact lug laterally. According to the invention, the ends of at least one of the bows pointing toward the contact lug form a stop for a visual indicator that can be pivoted about an axis, wherein the pivoting motion is enabled when the ends of the bows extending in parallel are removed from the contact lug laterally by means of the slide.
