Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2014154751A2] The invention relates to methods for producing vinyl acetate by means of the heterogeneous, catalyzed, continuous gas-phase reaction of ethylene, acetic acid, and oxygen in a reactor, released process heat being removed from the reactor by means of heat exchange to water and thereby own steam being formed, and the separation of the product mixture leaving the reactor, which product mixture contains ethylene, vinyl acetate, acetic acid, water, carbon dioxide, and inert gases, by means of distillation by using one or more azeotropic columns and/or one or more pure distillation columns, characterized in that at least one azeotropic column and/or at least one pure distillation column contains filling bodies and the own steam is at least partially utilized to supply energy in one or more thus equipped azeotropic columns and/or pure distillation columns.
