[origin: WO2014154902A1] The invention relates to a method for providing a location assertion for a transaction device (Dt) that has requested, from a server and via a communication network, acceptance of a financial transaction involving the use of banking information. According to the invention, such a method includes: a step (10) of receiving a transaction request (Rq) from said transaction device (Dt), including at least one user identifier (id) with which said banking information is associated; a step (11) of obtaining an IP address (@IP) associated with said transaction device (Dt); a step (12) of determining a current location (LOCC) associated with said IP address (@IP); a step (13) of comparing said current location (LOCC) to at least one authorized location (LOCAs) on the basis of said identifier (id) of said user; and a step (14) of providing a location assertion (Al) to an entity (Ent) when said comparison step yields a positive result.
