[origin: WO2014167236A1] The invention mainly relates to a pignon cage assembly for a starter drive assembly of a starter of a motor vehicle comprising: a pignon cage (83); a drive gear (32) for engaging with a flywheel ring gear (35) of a heat engine slidably mounted onto said pignon cage (83), between an initial position and a final position; a spring (141) including at least two coils mounted such as to bear against a surface (912) of the pignon cage (83) and against a surface (322) of the drive gear (32), said surfaces facing one another, said spring (141) being capable of biasing the drive gear (32) in the initial position in which one of the coils at least partially surrounds the other coil of the spring (141) when the drive gear (32) is in the final position.
