[origin: WO2014180814A1] A cleaning apparatus (110) for the purpose of cleaning articles is proposed. The cleaning apparatus (110) comprises a cleaning chamber (114) for accommodating the articles. The cleaning apparatus (110) has at least one application means (130) for applying at least one cleaning fluid to the articles in the cleaning chamber (114). The cleaning apparatus (110) has at least one door (112) for opening the cleaning chamber (114) and for loading articles into the cleaning chamber (114) and unloading them therefrom. The door (112) has at least one at least partially transparent handle (116). The cleaning apparatus (110) has at least one illuminating means (124). The illuminating means (124) is intended to illuminate the handle (116) at least in part and, when the door (112) is open, to illuminate the cleaning chamber (114) and/or an inner side of the door (112).
