[origin: WO2014180540A1] A method for rolling threads on workpieces (26) by means of opposing and co-rotationally driven rolling rolls (3, 13) in a forming process, comprising a rolling gap (43), which forms between the rolling rolls (3, 13) and in which the workpiece (26) that is intended to undergo the forming operation is provided on its outer circumference with a thread or a thread-like profile by undergoing forming by a rolling thread (17, 27) on the rolls, wherein, in a first method step, at least one rolling roll (3) performs a linear movement in order to open the rolling gap (43), and wherein, in a second method step, the rolled stock (26) that is intended to undergo the forming operation is transported into this opened rolling gap (43), wherein, in a third method step, the rolling gap (43) narrows, and so the rolling thread (17, 27) of the mutually opposing rolling rolls (3, 13) lies against the outer circumference of the rolled stock (26) with a forming effect, and wherein, in the next method step, the rolling gap (43) is opened again and the rolled stock (26) on which rolling has been completed is transported out of the rolling gap (43).
