Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2014191216A1] The invention relates to a drill (1) particularly for working lightweight metals and composite materials, having a central axis (M) and an end face (3). The drill (1) comprises a first section (5) which – seen along the central axis (M) from the end face (3) – is arranged before a second section (7). Said first section (5) comprises a first main cutting edge (9, 9') and a first external diameter (D1), said second section (7) comprising a second main cutting edge (11) and a second external diameter (D2). Said first external diameter (D1) is smaller than said second external diameter (D2). According to the invention, the first external diameter (D1) is at least 0.9*x to a maximum of 1.1*x, where x = D2 – exp(D2/15) – 0.5.
