Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2514421A] A keep 1, also known as a keeper or strike-plate, for a door or window having holding or securing means 9 which cooperate with the keep to secure the door or window, the keep being adapted to provide in-out-adjustments to give clearance behind holding points 11, 13. The keep may comprise a base section 5, a top plate 7 and multiple turnable studs 27 provided with multi-start threads mounted in a threaded bush and defining a countersunk hole for a fixing screw. The base section and top plate may be inter-fitting one piece extrusions made from a plastic such as PVC-U. The keep could be for a bi-fold door or window. The keep allows compensation for thermal expansion of a door or window or its frame, thereby reducing the gap between them, which may occur due to seasonal changes in temperature and does so without the need to adjust hinges.
