Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2014195061A1] The invention relates to a self-tapping screw comprising a screw shaft (1) and a screw thread (3) as well as a grooved section (4) that proceeds from the front end (2) of the screw and extends across an axial length which approximately corresponds to the nominal dimensions of the screw. A support section of the thread is connected to this grooved section. In the preferably slightly cone-shaped grooved section, the grooves (6) formed between the windings of the thread by the thread flanks are initially designed flatter proceeding from the front screw end and they continually approach, in their form, the steeper cross-sectional shape of the grooves present in the support section. This gradual transition forms a counter thread from the screw, which allows greater loads. The invention likewise suggests a rolling die for producing such a screw, and a thread former.
