[origin: WO2014202613A1] The invention relates to a packing machine and a method for filling open bags with dust-forming products such as bulk materials by means of a filling process. The filling process is controlled in dependence on weight by means of a control device and a weighing device. Product is discharged from a product supply by means of a metering element and is introduced into an open bag attached for the filling process through a filling nozzle. The filling nozzle is connected to a collecting container by means of such a flow connection so that a pressure surge occurring during the filling process in order to transfer the displacement air contained in the open bag and surrounding the dust-forming product into the collecting container is used to hold and calm the displacement air in the collecting container and to at least partially deposit a dust fraction of the displacement air in the collecting container as a deposited product.
