[origin: WO2014206847A1] The invention relates to a sheathed glow plug (10) to be arranged in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, said glow plug having an electrical resistance element (16) accommodated in a glow tube (12) and designed as a single-material coil (44) having a defined temperature coefficient of resistance, and said electrical resistance element (16) being heated and/or maintained at a predetermined temperature by means of a dynamically changing control voltage. In addition, the material of the electrical resistance element (16) comprises at least one refractory metal, and the glow tube (12) is made of a nickel-chromium alloy.
