[origin: WO2014166536A1] The invention relates to a method for controlling the power of an internal combustion engine (64), comprising the following steps: providing a cooling liquid (108) that can be vaporised, providing a fuel fluid (109) for operating the internal combustion engine (64), introducing the fuel fluid (109) and intake air into the internal combustion engine (64), combusting the fuel fluid together with the intake air in the internal combustion engine (64), converting at least part of the thermal energy produced during the combustion of the fuel fluid (109) into mechanical output power, determining a current control value, controlling the output power as a response to the determined current control value by introducing the cooling liquid (108) in an inlet region (G) of the internal combustion engine (64), wherein intake air or an intake mixture of the internal combustion engine (64) is cooled by the introduction of the cooling liquid (108) in the inlet region (G) and thus the output power can be controlled.
