[origin: WO2015004094A1] The present invention relates to a knit foot-covering garment, as well as a method for manufacturing thereof on circular machines for hosiery and knitwear. The foot-covering garment comprises a heel portion, a toe portion, a middle portion located between the heel portion and the toe portion and an opening between said heel portion, said middle portion and said toe portion for the insertion of a user foot. According to the invention, the foot-covering garment further comprises a first containing portion seamlessly knitted as a whole with the heel portion and/or a second containing portion seamlessly knitted as a whole with the toe portion. The first and/or second containing portion comprises a plurality of ribs, which are defined by stitches of a main thread, substantially extending parallel one to another, the main thread also substantially extending transversely to said ribs and being knitted at the same ribs, and not-knitted between two adjoining ribs in order to define portions of main thread named floating portions.
