[origin: WO2015007528A1] A system, having a control and/or monitoring apparatus (14) as master and devices (10) as slaves for being arranged along emergency routes or traffic routes, wherein, in a net-work chain, a first receiver (20) of a device (10) is connected to a first transmitter (22) of a predecessor through a differential signal line (32), and a second receiver (26) is connected to a second transmitter (28) of a successor through an other differential signal line (34), wherein a data packet, which is received by the first receiver (20) and is ad-dressed to an other device (10), is forwarded to the successor; a data packet, which is received by the first receiver (20) and is addressed to the own device (10), is received; response data are output through the second transmitter (28); and response data from an other device (10), which are received by the second receiver (26), are forwarded through the second transmitter (28) to the predecessor.
