[origin: WO2015010752A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for remote-controlling a function of a vehicle (1). The device comprises a portable operator-control device (2) having a touch-sensitive display and operator control face (4), a gesture capture means (5), and a wireless communication link (3) between the portable operator-control device (2) and the vehicle (1). A gesture which is carried out by a user is captured by means of the portable operator-control device (2), and a wireless communication link (3) is set up between the portable operator-control device (2) and the vehicle (1). Predefined gestures are assigned and stored for the purpose of controlling the function of the vehicle (1). The captured gesture is transmitted to the vehicle (1) by means of the communication link (3). The captured gesture is compared with the predefined gestures in the vehicle (1), and when there is correspondence the function of the vehicle (1) which is assigned to the gesture is carried out. Furthermore, the invention relates to a device (12) for putting the graphic gesture which has been carried out with a graphic trace (13). In this context, the graphic trace (13) comprises a plurality of end positions (14, 15, 16), wherein the end positions (14, 15, 16) symbolise the positions of the transmission of a vehicle (1).
