[origin: WO2015014682A1] A spinning machine, in particular a ring spinning machine, has a multiplicity of units (1) arranged alongside one another, wherein each unit (1) has a drafting unit (20) for drafting a sliver (3), having a linear nip (KL), provided at the drafting-unit outlet, for the sliver, a spinning device for twisting the drafted sliver to form a thread (3), and a false-twist device (9) arranged between the linear nip (KL) and the spinning device. The false-twist device (9) has at least one driven belt which runs substantially transversely to the thread (3) and the thread (3) wraps around two opposed strands (4, 5) of the belt(s), in particular in a Z-shaped manner. The belt strand (4) that is contacted first by the thread (3) is at a distance (R) of between 25 and 130 mm from the linear nip (KL).
