A preform (1) made of a thermoplastic material is first heated and then supplied with a pressurized fluid, and the preform (1) is supplied with a sterilizing radiation at least in some areas. The method is characterized in that a radiation source (59, 66, 81) for the sterilizing radiation is arranged at a distance to the preform (1), and a supplying device (51) is moved into the preform (1), said supplying device conducting the sterilizing radiation from the radiation source (59, 66, 81) into the preform (1) and emitting the sterilizing radiation onto the preform inner wall (50). The invention further relates to a device for producing blow-molded containers (2) which are sterile at least some areas.
