Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2517704A] A damper for an airflow duct comprises a housing 112 having a first and a second end forming a passageway along a longitudinal axis of the housing and the first end has a radially inward flange (126, fig 8). A damper element 100 linearly moves along the longitudinal axis between a first position where the damper element sealingly engages with the flange and a second position where the damper element is spaced from and closingly orientated with the passageway in a plane substantially parallel with the flange (fig 10a). The damper element is pivotable between the second position to a third position where the damper element is openly orientated to permit fluid flow through the passageway (fig 10b). At least one first and second biasing member (not shown) bias the damper element. An actuator comprising an axle 106 is coupled to the damper element via a cam mechanism 114, 116 to permit pivoting of the damper element. The cam mechanism comprises of at least one cam 114 mounted to the axle and at least one cam follower 116 mounted to the damper element. The damper may be a fire or smoke damper.
