[origin: WO2015032475A1] The invention relates to a method for supplying document sets (4) and inserting document sets into associated envelopes (2), wherein the document sets (4) are fed in a document material flow formed by a sequence of document sets (4) and the envelopes (2) are fed in an envelope material flow formed by a sequence of envelopes (2) to an insertion station (10). The problem addressed by the invention is that of enabling an especially high reliability and precision in the assembling of mail items from the document sets (4) and the envelopes (2) in an especially simple manner. This problem is solved in that the particular supplied document set (4) is inserted into the respective simultaneously supplied enveloped (2) in the insertion station (10), wherein for each document set (4) guided in the document material flow, the position of the document set in the document sequence and a document identification code associated with the document set are determined, and for each envelope (2) guided in the envelope material flow, the position of the envelope in the envelope sequence and an envelope identification code associated with the envelope are determined, and the feeding of a document set (4) and of an envelope (2) into the insertion station (10) is released only in pairs and only if it is confirmed on the basis of the respective document identification code and the respective envelope identification code that the envelope (2) queued for delivery is individually associated with the document set (4) queued for delivery.
