[origin: WO2015032704A1] The invention relates to a method for checking the plausibility of a motor vehicle (7) driving in the wrong direction on an entrance ramp of a roadway (2), the crossing of a stop line or a barrier line of a junction (3) of the roadway (2) being detected and/or at least one directional information of a roadway (5) of the junction (3) ahead of the motor vehicle (7) being detected and a probability of the motor vehicle driving in the wrong direction being determined based on said detection. The invention further relates to a control and detection device for checking the plausibility of a motor vehicle (7) driving in the wrong direction on an entrance ramp of a roadway (2), comprising means for detecting the crossing of a stop line (14) or a barrier line (15) of a junction (3) of the roadway (2); and/or means for detecting at least one directional information (18, 20) of a roadway (5) of the junction (3) ahead of the motor vehicle (7); and means for determining a probability of the motor vehicle driving in the wrong direction based on the detection.
