This step or pallet has a tread element (40) and a supporting body (30) with a base (31), wherein the tread element (40) comprises at least two part elements (41, 42, 43) and each part element (41, 42, 43) is delimited in its areal extent by two parallel end sides (45, 46) extending in the intended direction of movement (X) of the step (4, 304) or pallet (14, 114) and by two edge sides (47, 48, 147, 148) arranged orthogonally to the end sides (45, 46). The at least two part elements (41, 42, 43) are arranged in a predetermined sequence on the base (31) of the supporting body (30). Part elements (41, 42, 43) arranged next to one another are in each case situated against one another by one of their end sides (45, 46), wherein a part element (41, 42) arranged in a preceding manner on the base (31) is in each case secured on the supporting body (30) by the part element (42, 43) arranged subsequently on the base (31).
