Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2015040293A1] A mail sorting apparatus comprises a sorting machine having an unstacking member (5) and a feed magazine (7). The apparatus also comprises storage bins (4) for storing items of mail (3) and bringing them into the feed magazine. The magazine has a slider bed with a first slider-bed part (22) which is superposed on a second slider-bed part (23) in an overhanging manner. Each bin (4) comprises a bottom (26) having a slot that is open on a front side and towards the top of the bin. The first slider-bed part and the slot of each bin are designed to be inserted one into the other such that when a bin full of edge-stacked items of mail rests on the second slider-bed part, the first slider-bed part is inserted into the slot in the bin under the stack of items, thereby allowing automatic unloading of the items from the bin.
