[origin: WO2015039737A1] The invention relates to a flame retardant composition which comprises a salt of the components (A) and (B), where (A) is at least one pyrophosphonic acid derivative of the general formula (I): (I) where R1 and R2 independently of one another are a substituted or unsubstituted, straight-chain or branched alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted benzyl or substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, and (B) is selected from the group consisting of melamine, melam, melem, melon, ammelines, ammelides, 2-ureidomelamine, substituted or unsubstituted heptazines, guanylurea, acetoguanamine, benzoguanamine and diaminophenyltriazine or two or more of these compounds.
