Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2518645A] A thermally insulated container 1, for transporting temperature sensitive goods, has a modular construction that includes a plurality of thermally insulated container sections (3, figure 2a) and means 35 for fixing the container sections together. A modular system is also provided enabling a variety of different sized containers to be constructed, wherein each container constructed is sized and shaped for loading onto an aircraft Unit Load Device, such as a pallet, said modular system including thermally insulated wall elements 5, 7 and 9 that are configurable into the container sections. Gel packs containing phase change materials may be mounted on the walls of the container for controlling the temperature and temperature sensors may be included to monitor the containers temperature. An external adjustable support frame may be included to keep the container sections together by applying a compressive load. The wall elements may be filled with insulating foam.
