[origin: WO2015043762A1] The invention relates to the handling of value documents from various deposits using a value document handling apparatus. When the value documents are placed into the containers that are used to supply them to the value document handling apparatus, a beginning position and possibly also an end position for the respective deposit is ascertained for each deposit and transmitted to the value document handling apparatus. The invention allows error-free association of the checked value documents with the various deposits even when there are different deposits in the same container. When a deposit comprises two separate stack elements that have been placed into the same or different containers, said stack elements of the deposit under consideration can be balanced jointly and it is possible to perform joint reject handling for the stack elements of the same deposit.
