Abstract (en)
There is disclosed an illumination system comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) arranged on a flat plane having an axis perpendicular to the plane. There is further provided a plurality of lenses each associated with at least one LED and mounted above the plane to direct light emitted by the LEDs towards a target area. At least some of the plurality of lenses are configured as off-axis lenses so as to direct light from their associated LEDs in a direction that is angled relative to the perpendicular axis, so as to provide generally even or homogeneous illumination of the target area.
