Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2015051974A1] The invention relates to a system for the flexible operation of an automation machine, comprising at least one computer (RE) and a plurality of field devices (A, S) for determining and/or monitoring physical or chemical process variables, wherein the at least one computer (RE) and the field devices (A, S) are networkable and are interconnected or interconnectable via a network, wherein each computer (RE) and each field device (A, S) is assigned or can be assigned a unique address in the network, and wherein communication takes place using a defined network protocol, wherein the networkable computer (RE) or networkable computers (RE) is/are assigned at least one machine model (AM) which virtually maps the machine topology, the machine function and the interaction of the field devices (S, A) with each other and with the at least one computer (RE), wherein the machine model (AM) is designed to be flexibly adaptable to different machine topologies, different machine functions and/or a different interaction of the field devices (A, S) with each other and with the at least one computer (RE), and wherein using the machine model (AM) the at least one computer (RE) controls the automation machine in accordance with the actual machine topology, the actual machine function and/or the actual interaction of the field devices (A, S) with each other and with the at least one computer (RE).
