The strip comprises a housing (5) for receiving the edge, and a flat main body (20) provided with, on at least one part (60 to 63), at least one housing (50 to 53) for receiving at least one complementarily shaped part of an edge of a plate, as well as being provided with at least one housing (8) for receiving a lug for securing the plate on a bearing surface. The body (20) of the strip is also provided with at least one housing (17, 17') for receiving a part of another strip (1) when the two plates are assembled. The body (20) of the strip (1) comprises at least two recesses (50 to 53) arranged in two parts (60 to 63) connected by a strip of material (191, 191'), said recesses (50 to 53) forming the housings for receiving two parts of a non-continuous edge of a plate.
