A connecting structure provided herein is to connect members employed in various wooden structures including wooden buildings where a metal fitting is embedded in the members substantially entirely to achieve excellence in an aesthetic aspect, for example. To connect a one rod-shaped member (41) and a counterpart rod-shaped member (51), the connecting structure uses a hollow connecting pipe (11) disposed to straddle contact surfaces (43, 53) of the one member (41) and the counterpart member (51), and a fixing means including a bolt (31) with which the connecting pipe (11) is integrated with the one member (41) and the counterpart member (51). The connecting pipe (11) has a side surface provided with a lateral hole (38) for insertion of the bolt (31). The one member (41) and the counterpart member (51) include upright grooves (44, 54) for housing of the connecting pipe (11). The upright grooves (44, 54) face each other to dispose the contact surfaces (43, 53) therebetween and extend vertically. The upright grooves (44, 54) extend toward without reaching a lower surface of the one member (41) and a lower surface of the counterpart member (51). The upright grooves (44, 54) have respective bottoms serving as upward surfaces (45, 55) for placement of the connecting pipe (11). As a result, a metal fitting can be embedded substantially entirely in the members.
