[origin: WO2015071278A1] An apparatus for growing and/or examining cells, comprising arrangement of at least one bowl-shaped culture dish having a base and a side wall, and an interior which is bounded by the base and side wall and has an opening at the top end, characterized in that – at least one sheetlike capillary membrane system composed of at least one capillary membrane is disposed in the interior of the culture dish, – wherein the at least one capillary membrane has a semipermeable wall, a lumen which is enclosed by the wall and has at least one open end and has a fluid connection via its open end to a supply line having a wall and a lumen, such that liquids, media, gases and/or other substances can be passed through the supply line and the capillary membrane system, – wherein the capillary membrane system is disposed in the region of the base of the respective culture dish and its areal extent is limited by the side wall of the culture dish and – wherein the at least one supply line leads out of the interior through the opening.
