[origin: WO2015074892A1] The invention relates to a high intensity discharge lamp comprising a gas-tightly sealed discharge vessel (10) in which gas discharge electrodes (11, 12) and a discharge medium for creating a gas discharge are enclosed. The discharge medium contains no mercury and comprises at least xenon and iodides of the metals sodium and scandium. The distance between the gas discharge electrodes ranges from 1.8 mm to 3.2 mm, and the cold filling pressure of xenon ranges from 1.35 to 2.0 megapascal.
