[origin: EP3079278A1] The present invention pertains to a method for transmitting a plurality of audio channels over frequency modulated infrared bands, the method comprising periodically transmitting a configuration message and associated audio channel messages, said configuration message comprising an indication of the number of said audio channels, wherein the of audio channels is greater than 32 and the number of audio channels is coded in two non-adjacent fields. The invention also pertains to a system for receiving a plurality of audio channels over frequency modulated infrared bands as transmitted according to the method described above.
