[origin: WO2015092727A1] The invention relates to a security item which comprises: a first layer (12) at least partially visible in reflected light; a second diffusing layer (13) at least partially visible in reflected light, at least partially arranged on top of the first layer (12), modifying the reflectance of the first layer (12), such as to cause the appearance, when observed under reflected light, by contrast between the first layer only (12) and the vertically adjacent first (12) and second layers (13), of at least one pattern that can be seen with the naked eye, wherein the pattern which appears under reflected light is not visible to the naked eye under transmitted light, in particular when the first layer (12) is observed through the second layer (13).
