[origin: WO2015090747A1] The invention relates to an elevator system (1) with a first and second cab (11, 12) which are arranged in a movable manner on a cab frame (10). The elevator system (1) additionally has an information carrier (20) which is arranged along a travel region (2) of the first and second cab (11, 12) or the cab frame (10), a first sensor unit (21) which is arranged on the first cab (11), and a second sensor unit (22) which is arranged on the second cab (12). The invention is characterized in that the first sensor unit (21) and the second sensor unit (22) are designed to read information from the information carrier (20), said information being used to determine a respective absolute position of the first and second cab (11, 12).
