[origin: WO2015090748A1] The invention relates to a lift installation (1) with a first and second cabin (11, 12) which are arranged on a cabin frame (10) so as to be displaceable symmetrically in opposite directions. Furthermore, the lift installation (1) has an information carrier (20) which is arranged along a region of travel (2) of the first and second cabin (11, 12) or of the cabin frame (10), a first sensor unit (21) which is arranged on the first cabin (11), and a second sensor unit (22) which is arranged on the second cabin (12). The invention is distinguished in that the first sensor unit (21) and the second sensor unit (22) are configured to read information from the information carrier (20) which serves to determine in each case an absolute position for the first and for the second cabin (11, 12).
