An apparatus and method of operating a network traffic policing module (44) includes a data ingress port (36) configured to receive data frames transmitted over the network(24), a data egress port (38) configured to transmit a set of the data frames to the data egress port (38) and a logic device (48) configured to execute a set of compliance tests on the data frames received at the data ingress port (36) and transmits to the data egress port (38) only a set of data frames that are compliant with the set of compliance tests.
