Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, dass die Arbeitsstelle (1) über einen mechanischen, kontaktbehafteten Abtastfühler (22) verfügt, der so ausgebildet und angeordnet ist, dass er während des Betriebes der Arbeitsstelle (1) durch ein den Fadenballon (B) bildendes Garn in einer vom Durchmessers eines Fadenballons (B) abhängigen Betriebsstellung (BS) positioniert wird, und dass eine Sensoreinrichtung (24) vorhanden ist, die die Betriebsstellung (BS) des Abtastfühlers (22) erfasst.
