[origin: US2016319675A1] A rotor blade for a gas turbine has a pressure-side wall and a suction-side wall, a tip cap, a cavity which is formed by the inner surface of the pressure-side wall, the suction-side wall and the tip cap, and a squealer which extends radially from the pressure-side and suction-side walls, a half-space formed by the outer surface of the tip cap and the squealer, and a cooling channel which leads from the cavity to the outside of the squealer. The tip cap has a recess which extends from the half-space into the tip cap such that the recess divides the cooling channel into a first part that communicates with the cavity and a second part that communicates with the outside space.
