[origin: WO2015101754A2] The invention relates to a lifting device, in particular of a vehicle, including a column (2) forming a frame, extending substantially vertically above a base (3), and lifting means (4) which are movable along said column by controlling the rotation, by suitable driving means (5), of a threaded rod (6) and by the movement, along the threaded rod, of a nut (7) secured to a carriage (8) on which the load to be lifted can rest. Said lifting device (1) further comprises fall-arresting safety means (9) comprising a ratchet (10) capable of occupying at least a first unlocked position (11) and a locked position (12) engaging with at least one tooth (13) of a ratchet wheel (14) such as to lock the rotation of the threaded rod (6), as well as means for keeping (15) the ratchet in the unlocked position and means for controlling the return (16) of the ratchet to the locked position.
