[origin: WO2015117176A1] The invention relates to a sound absorber (1, 100, 101) that is to be suspended freely in a room (3) and comprises a sound absorber element (4) forming a cavity (24), and a mount (5) which retains the sound absorber element (4) and which includes at least one anchoring point (12) for suspending the sound absorber (1) and at least two opposite support surfaces (8, 9), against each of which an end face (10, 11) of the sound absorber element (4) rests. In order to obtain a high degree of sound absorption, the bottom opening (13) in the cavity (24) of the sound absorber element (4) is open towards the outside of the sound absorber (1), wherefor the frame-type mount (5) extends longitudinally along the sound absorber element (4) and ends in a support surface (9) for the lower end face (11) of the sound absorber element (4).
