[origin: WO2015130909A1] An acoustic nonwoven panel and method of construction thereof is provided. The nonwoven panel has a nonwoven mat with a compounded antimicrobial, fire retardant, binder coating and a scrim layer bonded thereon. The nonwoven mat includes a bonded fibrous mixture of low melt fibers and at least one of first fibers of used vehicle seatbelts, second fibers from used vehicle airbags and third fibers from used professional garments. The first, second and third fibers range between about 30-75mm in length, and have a denier ranging between about 3-10, The fibrous mixture is processed via a nonwoven webbing process to form a web of the randomly oriented fibers, and the compounded coating and scrim layer are bonded thereto.
