[origin: WO2015128055A1] In a method for operating track-laying machines drivable on tracks, during which a wheel load is generated, asymmetric with respect to the two rails (7, 8) of the track (3) due to relative displacement between a machine frame (2) and a working assembly (11), the wheel loads (t1, t2) acting on each wheel (6) of a wheel set (5) are constantly measured and compared with each other. In the event of exceeding an optionally adjustable maximum wheel-load difference limit between the two wheels (6), a forward travel of the track-laying machine (1) is automatically stopped or, if the track-laying machine is idle, the forward travel thereof is blocked.
