The contact element (100) has a contact body (200) extending along a longitudinal axis (150) and a cable mount (400) connected to the contact body (200) and extending along the longitudinal axis (150), wherein the cable mount (400) has at least one retaining section (410) for fixing a cable (500) to the cable mount (400). The contact element (100) additionally has a protective element (300). In order to prevent the protruding strands (520) of the cable (500) from damaging the sealing mat when inserting the contact element (100) through the sealing mat, the protective element (300) is displaceable along the longitudinal axis (150) from a first position (P1) into a second position (P2), wherein the protective element (300) covers the cable mount (400) in the second position (P2). The invention also relates to a method for producing a contact-element/cable arrangement.
