[origin: CA2956526A1] The invention relates to a burner (2) for a combustion machine, having a pilot burner (4), which extends in the axial direction (A), having a nozzle chamber (10), having a burner region (6) and having a cover plate (20) which is arranged between the nozzle chamber (10) and the burner region (6) and which has an inlet opening (26), wherein an adapter (28) is arranged, in order to guide air out of the nozzle chamber (10) along a specified flow path (P) in the direction of the combustion region (6), wherein a flow channel (36) is formed as part of the flow path (P) between the adapter (28) and the cover plate (20) and the adapter (28) has a radially extending, annular section (34) which, together with the cover plate (20), forms a radial section (38) of the flow channel (36), in order to cool the cover plate (20) by means of the air. The invention further relates to a combustion machine having such a burner (2).
