[origin: WO2015176723A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for increasing safety during an overtaking process of a vehicle (1), the driving speed (V) of which is regulated by an ACC-system, said method comprising the following steps: detecting (S1) a potential overtaking situation, wherein the vehicle (1) will overtake, in an overtaking process, at least one vehicle (3; 5; 7; 8) in front in a lane; accelerating (S2) the overtaking process if the vehicle (1) is to overtake the vehicle in front (3; 5; 7; 8) in an admissible manner; and preventing the overtaking process if the vehicle (1) is in danger of overtaking the vehicle in front (3; 5; 7; 8) in an inadmissible manner, or in order to allow an overtaking process of a vehicle in front.
