[origin: WO2015181597A1] The invention relates to a spinning preparation machine (1), comprising at least one consolidating means (2) for producing a roving (3) having a protective twist from a fiber sliver (4) fed to the consolidating means, a drawing frame (5) for drawing the fiber sliver (4) before the fiber sliver enters the consolidating means, said drawing frame being arranged before the consolidating means in a running direction (L) of the roving (3), a winding device (6) for winding the roving (3) onto a sleeve (7), said winding device being arranged after the consolidating means in said running direction (L), and a movably supported traversing element (8) for guiding the roving (3) during the winding onto the sleeve (7), said traversing element being arranged in the region of the winding device (6). According to the invention, the consolidating means (2) is arranged in a vertical direction in a side view of the spinning preparation machine (1) between at least one input roller (9) of the drawing frame (5) and the traversing element (8) supported below the drawing frame in the vertical direction, wherein the input roller (9) and the traversing element (8) are arranged on the same side of the consolidating means in said side view, such that the roving (3) experiences a direction change after the exit from the consolidating means and before the winding onto the sleeve (7) during the operation of the spinning preparation machine (1).
